nursery reveal!

Since Alden made his entrance a week early, there were a few small things that were waiting to be done in the nursery that we have finally finished. Even though it's not "magazine ready", it's a real, lived-in room in a real family's house and I'm just gonna let it all hang out there! Haha- but seriously, I am so excited to share the room that we lovingly created for our little man. It is a peaceful little oasis in the house that makes me happy every time I walk in :)

We like to approach decorating as an evolution over time instead of an all-at-once sprint to get a room "done" so there are still some things that I'm planning to do. I'm waiting to find things that I really love and to figure out exactly how we use the room so that anything we add down the line fits with what we need the space to provide.

And here are the photos!

So, that's where the nursery stands right now. Some of these photos are already out of date since I've moved some things around already. Hopefully, I'll remember to update with new photos after we've gotten some more of the details done.

Here's our updated to do list:

paint walls/ stripes
install new blinds
put together crib and dresser
arrange furniture in final layout
- paint/wallpaper/cover the backs of the white shelves we already own (I think we've decided to leave the shelves white...)
make and hang DIY-ed cornice board
make crib skirt/attach to crib (there may be one more step to this that hasn't been done yet...)
- DIY some cool toy storage bins for the shelves
find two table lamps for the dresser and "breastfeeding corner"
find floor lamp for extra lighting
install baby monitor
clean out closet/ create a new organization system in there (we've made some decisions on organization and purchased some stuff already...this may be a project that gets delayed for a while since we'd like to wait and invest in a system we really like instead of doing it halfway now)
repaint trim in crisp white/ touch-up baseboards
search for a new feeding chair? (there's a story behind this...and we found a great new one!)
- decide on and hang art (this is mostly done. there are some photo frames that still need photos and there are some frames that I'd still like to get on the wall, but it's pretty much done.)
make cool name art out of wooden letters
DIY a changing pad cover (this didn't happen- we found some that we really liked, were only $18 and were already made. took the lazy route on this one :)
DIY cloth wipes (done! we haven't started using them, though. update later.)
- hang cute mobile over changing pad
- DIY a wooden frame for the "Wild Things" art
- print photos for empty frames
- complete Alden's birthday shadow box with mementos from the hospital & hang on wall

I also wanted to share some photos of the BEAUTIFUL quilt that my Aunt Lisa made for Alden. It is absolutely perfect for a little boy and looks like something you'd buy at a store. She did such a wonderful job on it and we LOVE how it turned out!

It has planes and clouds in the design (Alden's paternal grandfather and Uncle are pilots so planes have a special place in our family) and has such a cool border fabric. It really is such a hip little quilt :)

More updates to come soon!

much love, L&N
